Frequently Asked Questions

Do you make replicas of designer gowns?

No. As artist, we enjoy creating original designs for unique gowns, and we do not copy other designers out of respect for their art. Not only that, but since it is nearly impossible to replicate a gown exactly, this would just set everyone up for frustration. If you’ve fallen in love with another dress, our recommendation is to just buy that one! However, since visuals certainly help communicate the look you are going for you can upload photos when booking your consultation.

What are the benefits of having a custom gown made?

Having a custom wedding gown made can be an incredibly fun and rewarding process. If you have a vision for something original and creative, the sky is the limit! Also, unlike purchasing a generic pre-made gown, it will be tailored to fit and flatter your body. Most importantly, a custom gown is designed to be an expression of who you are and make your true beauty shine through. Your wedding, prom, or pageant  day is one of the most special days of your life, so make it a work of art!

What are the drawbacks?

Having a custom gown made is not for everyone. It requires a certain degree of faith, flexibility, and open-mindedness. Faith, because you don’t get to try it on first, so you have to believe in the design you have envisioned and trust us to make it a reality. Flexibility, because designing a gown is an evolving process and we may have to make adjustments to the design along the way as we see what will work best to achieve the desired result. Open mindedness because if you have a very rigid idea of what you want, it may limit the creative potential. If you have a difficult time being decisive or are already under a lot of stress in planning your wedding, having a custom gown made may not be the best thing. Remember, it’s not worth stressing over the dress! Still interested? Read on!

How much does a custom gown cost?

That entirely depends on the dress. The type of materials used and the complexity of the design are the determining factors. We work in a variety of styles ranging from understated simplicity to decadently detailed elegance, and prices range from $499 - $5,000 on the online store. Anything made from scratch prices are 1,000- 15,000. Having a custom gown made may be more expensive than buying something off the rack because there is a lot of time involved in developing the design and pattern. However, it is well worth it to get exactly what you want. We do our best to work with each clients budget, so let us know what you have in mind!

How long does it take?

The time frame depends upon your event date and availability for fittings. The process typically takes 3-6 months, depending on the number of fittings needed. However, we can sometimes expedite it, so if you’re a last minute bride, don’t hesitate to email us at info@YKJINCFASHIONHOUSE.com.

How do payments work?

The initial consultation is either $50 or $75. After we have agreed upon the design, materials, and budget, we require a 50% deposit or all up front that will cover the cost of materials before we begin working on the dress. The payment of the balance is not due until the dress is completed and everything is to your satisfaction. If you are an out of state the balance must be paid before
we ship your gown.

Do you ship out of state?

Yes, nationwide shipping is available. You can book a Virtual Consultation (Face Time, Facebook, or Whats App) shipping is not included in your price.

What if I change my mind about what I want?

We have found that creating a gown is a sort of evolutionary process, so we are fairly flexible to making changes to the design as we go along, and if they are minor we can usually do them at no extra charge. If it is a major change that requires purchasing additional fabric or redoing something, we may have to negotiate some additional charges in order to compensate me for extra time and materials.

Can I return the dress?

Because the dress is custom made for you, it is very important that you are fully committed to it before we begin. Once we have begun making your dress, we cannot accept returns or cancellations for any reason such as you changed your mind, found a cheaper dress somewhere else, called off the wedding, etc.
We understand how important a wedding gown is to a bride, and we are committed to making sure that you have a wonderful experience and LOVE your dress! If for any reason you are not satisfied with the finished dress, We are committed to working with you to remedy the issue. We believe that with patience and clear communication on both sides we can work together until you are 100% satisfied with your wedding gown.
